Having been on the lookout for an attacking left-sided fullback capable of adding depth to their squad ahead of a host of upcoming fixtures, OGC Nice have signed Ali Abdi. Featuring in the L2 team of the season last time around, the Tunisian international (28 appearances, 2 goals) arrives from Caen, where he scored 9 goals and provided 1 assist in 33 matches in the 2023-24 season. "We are always looking to create the most balanced squad possible," explained Florian Maurice, Gym's sporting director. Ali is a specialist in his position, a pure left-sided player. He's a player with a lot of depth, he's forward-thinking, powerful and a good finisher. He's had some very good seasons in Ligue 2, and we're convinced that he can take things to the next level with us." Prior to his move to France, Ali Abdi forged a solid reputation in his homeland, notably playing for Club Africain from 2016 to 2019 (85 games, 10 goals, 6 assists), after spells with Esperance de Tunis, Stade Tunisien and JS Kairouan.
