Youssoufa Moukoko joins OGC Nice on loan

Striker Youssoufa Moukoko has today joined OGC Nice on loan from Borussia Dortmund with an option to buy.

“He’s a player that’s brimming with quality, is good in behind and is gifted in front of goal. Despite his young age [of 19], he’s already an international with Germany and possesses real experience of top-level football. He’ll give us a different profile up front,” hailed Florian Maurice, Les Aiglons’ sporting director.

Having come through the ranks at Dortmund after starting out at FC St. Pauli, Moukoko burst onto the professional scene very early on, as he was handed his Bundesliga debut by Lucien Favre in a 5-2 win over Hertha Berlin on 21st November 2020, the day after his 16th birthday. Since then, Moukoko has notched up 18 goals and eight assists in 99 appearances for Der BVB’s first team.

As well as earning two caps for Germany and taking part in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the centre-forward arrives in Nice following a 2023–24 campaign in which he played 27 matches and scored six goals for a team that reached the final of the UEFA Champions League. “Youssoufa was a striker in high demand, and we’re delighted to see him join us,” explained club president Jean-Pierre Rivère. “The transfer window is about opportunities; this was a good one, and we took it. We wish Youssouf welcome.

“Thank you to OGC Nice for their faith,” concluded Les Aiglons’ newest signing. “I can’t wait to meet the squad, the coaching staff and the fans. I’m expecting a lot from this season, both collectively and individually, and I’ve come here with a lot of desire, humility and ambition. Thanks, everyone, and Issa Nissa!”
