Welcome Moïse Bombito!

OGC Nice and the Colorado Rapids (MLS) have agreed on the transfer of Moïse Bombito. The 24-year-old central defender has signed for Le Gym until 2028.

In search of a central defender, OGC Nice is pleased to announce the signing of Moïse Bombito. The Canadian international (12 caps) has committed to the Rouge et Noir until 2028. “Moïse is considered one of the best defenders in North America,” says Florian Maurice, Le Gym’s Sporting Director. “He has great physical qualities and a lot of potential for growth. He makes a strong impact on the pitch, with a commanding presence and a strong personality. He just had a successful Copa America where Canada reached the semi-finals (eliminated 1-0 by Argentina, Editor’s note). We are convinced that he will bring a lot to the team.” “And beyond his qualities as a player, he will bring a lot of freshness to the group, which is important,” adds President Jean-Pierre Rivère. “In our meetings, we discovered an ambitious and warm young man. At the club, we quickly aligned on his arrival. It’s now up to us to support him as best as we can so that he can contribute his quality to OGC Nice. We welcome him to the club!”

Strong (1.91m) and very fast, Bombito has had a rapid rise through the ranks. A native of Montreal, he passed through the lower North American divisions - with CS Saint-Hubert (Canada), Iowa Western (USA), Seacoast United, the New Hampshire Wildcats - before joining the Colorado Rapids at the end of 2022. With the Denver-based club, he established himself as one of the best defenders in MLS, to the point of being selected for the league’s “All Stars” in 2024. “I am very happy to join OGC Nice,” says the Quebec native, who also played the full match for Canada against France on 9 June 2024 (0-0). “It was time for me to take a new step in my career. I will be discovering both Ligue 1 and the Europa League at the same time, and I feel ready. I am very ambitious, like Le Gym. I hope we will achieve great things this season and go far in all the competitions we will play in!”
