Monaco 2-1 Nice
The Gym fall in the derby
This Wednesday OGC Nice were defeated by Monaco in matchday 23 of Ligue 1 (2-1).
Desire, heart and hard work weren’t enough. Those three qualities were on show by the Aiglons in the second half when behind and backs against the wall. After being dominated in the first 45 minutes they fell behind through a Ben Yedder penalty after Ndoye fouled Henrique (1-0, 28’). And was a deserved lead for Monaco.
At the break Adrian Ursea decided to change things up and sent Reine-Adelaïde and Myziane on in place of Claude-Maurice and Ndoye. The Gym lined up in a 4-3-3 formation from the off and Myziane made an instant impact. After a solo run the number seven went past his man and hit a shot that cannoned off the post. Lees-Melou was there for the follow up and equalized left-footed (1-1, 47’).
Unfortunately the Aiglons were made to pay straight after. Four minutes after scoring they conceded a free kick 25 metres out. Ben Yedder converted for his brace (2-1, 51’).
After that goal the Rouge et Noir battled and put men forward. Reine-Adelaïde tried his luck from outside the box but was denied by Lecomte. Monaco dealt with the pressure and went back on the attack in the final ten minutes where Benitez made multiple saves and Golovin hit the bar.
The end of the game was unfortunately marred by Reine-Adelaïde’s knee injury as he was stretchered off.
