Aiglon du match: Gouiri carries on his run!

Amine Gouiri is your Aiglon Crédit Agricole of Round 28, which saw the Gym win 2-1 against Nîmes. With 32% of the vote, the Aiglons forward finished ahead of Youcef Atal (25%) and Jean-Clair Todibo (14%).

At night, the light came from him again. The Aiglons' top scorer this season is a hard worker, a battler, talented and generous in his efforts. In the 4th minute, Amine Gouiri gave his side the lead, with a real centre-forward's run - that was the position he started in before moving to the left wing when Dolberg came onto the field. For the run in question, put in at high intensity, the no. 11 moved away from the middle to the left and then cut back onto his right side. Two touches, decisive and technically superb, a control with the outside of the foot and the shot with the instep allowed him to beat Reynet at the near post.

After his 15th goal of the season (his 11th in L1), Gouiri didn't give up on anything. He carried on running, making himself available (touching the ball 60 times), defended (2 tackles), and attacked shrewdly (88% pass completion rate). He was part of the majority of attacks. He got into the box but lacked power in his shooting in the 43rd minute, exchanged passes with Lees-Melou before curling a shot against the post, the 6th time he's hit the woodwork this season (65'), and then perfectly pulled the ball back for Dolberg, who missed the target (76'). And then he finished by raising his arms to celebrate the winning goal scored by Claude-Maurice, and for once he wasn't directly involved in that.

Youcef Atal has the silver medal. Capable of "doing damage in one-on-ones" according to coach Ursea, the Algerian international proved he'd missed the pitch as much as the pitch missed him. Having not played since January 23 at Lens, he featured on the right wing. He made a big difference, involved in two burning attacks in the space of 3 minutes, before the opening goal scored by Gouiri, and he almost scored on his playing return, as he feinted to shoot and then shot with his left foot from inside the box, an effort that finished wide (25'). After a very good hour, Atal left his place on the pitch to Dolberg.

Jean-Clair Todibo finished 3rd in the election (14% of the vote), finishing narrowly ahead of Benitez and Claude-Maurice, two of the night's major players (13% each). Selected in central defence, Todibo played his natural game, mixing aggressiveness in defence with audacity in playing the ball out from the back. He touched the ball more often than any other Nice player (115) and was also the most accurate in his passing (90% completion) and won the ball back more than anyone else (9).
