Lens 0-1 Nice
Le Gym back to winning ways at Lens
Thanks to a good performance, Le Gym came out on top at Lens on Matchday 21 of L1 (0-1).
For their trip to the north, Le Gym had no choice: they would need to defend with all their heart and attack with all their strength. In the cold and von a poor pitch, Les Aiglons ensured that they accomplished their mission.
Against a good side, Adrian Ursea’s side started the game looking to keep things tight. Often playing deep, the 3-5-2 closed the gaps through the middle, Boudaoui stuck close to Kakuta, the defenders were faultless and built the foundations for the Nice victory. Le Gym were solid, pushed forward and attacked the second half on the front foot. Very quickly, Atal got the opener after cutting in from the right and finishing smartly with his left (0-1, 49’).
The full-back injured himself shortly after, but Lotomba, who came on to replace him, quickly found the pace of the game. Les Aiglons never lost their discipline and looked to attack on the counter (check out all of the action here). They continued to put their souls on the line to defend their lead. Coach Ursea’s side were driven forward by their captain, Pierre Lees-Melou, who made his return to the starting eleven and was exemplary from start to finish.
With grit, Les Azuréens held on and secured a deserved victory. Their first since 16 December. A source of happiness and a real relief.
