The big numbers Le Gym’s attack is putting up
With three more goals against Saint-Etienne on Saturday, OGC Nice has now found the back of the net 49 times in Ligue 1 this season, making them the third-best attack in the division. We take a look at the stunning numbers Le Gym’s frontline is putting up in 2024/25.
The goals by Pablo Rosario and Evann Guessand, and Mickaël Nadé’s own-goal, mean Le Gym remain Ligue 1’s third-best attack. With 49 goals from 24 games, Franck Haise’s men are just behind OM (50) and PSG (62).
It’s the first time since 1977/78 that OGC Nice have scored so many goals at this stage of a season (53 at the time), and to put it into context of last season: Francesco Farioli’s men ended the campaign in fifth place having scored 40 times in 34 matches.
THREAT FROM EVERYWHERE
With 27 goals scored at home and 22 away, Gaëtan Laborde & Co. have been just as dangerous on the road as at the Allianz Riviera, where the 8-0 win over St Etienne in September could have seriously tipped the balance.
They have found the net consistently, scoring in their last 18 Ligue 1 matches, which is their best run since netting at least once in 22 games between August and December 1959. The last time Nice failed to score in a league game this season was the goalless draw at Lens on 28 September last year.
And crucially the threat can come from anywhere: No other Ligue 1 team has more players with seven goals or more. There are five players with at least that many top-flight strikes: Evann Guessand, Gaëtan Laborde, Sofiane Diop, Jonathan Clauss and Mohamed-Ali Cho. With the third goal at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, Guessand now has 10 goals and 7 assists in the league, only Ousmane Dembélé has done better. "Momo" Cho registered his fourth assist this season, all of them coming in the last 10 Ligue 1 matches. That’s more than in the former Angers forward’s first 80 games in the competition. Our Number 25 has also scored five times in all competitions.
