Crédit Agricole PCA Aiglon of the Match: Marcin Bułka

Having been immense in Le Gym’s Coupe de France win over PSG (0-0, 6-5 on pens), Marcin Bułka is your Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Match. With 59% of the votes, the Polish keeper finishes ahead of Jean-Clair Todibo (12%) and Khéphren Thuram (8%).

“Honestly, it’s crazy. So many emotions!” It would be difficult to sum up Marcin Bułka’s night in words other than his own. Having been loaned out by PSG at the start of the season, the Polish keeper proved to be decisive on a night of celebration and a memorable one, too – his second in between the sticks for Les Rouge et Noir following the one away to Cholet in December.

At the Parc des Princes, where he had never featured as a pro with Paris, Bułka put in an imperial display. Whether it was in the air, on his line or with his feet, the Pole was infallible. Better still, he practically won the penalty shootout all on his own, stopping attempts from both Leandro Paredes and Xavi Simons and sending Le Gym through to the quarter-finals – all under the watchful gaze of his family.

Behind Marcin’s 6 ft 6 in, we find Jean-Clair Todibo. As has often been the case this season, the centre-back holds a top-three place for the Aiglon of the Match award. Strong in the challenge and skilled at playing the ball out, the former Toulouse man showed incredible consistency with, as a bonus, a vital intervention to stop Mbappé with his heel late in the game, followed by a coolly converted penalty. Finally, Khéphren Thuram brings up the rear. Having put in a top-drawer first-half performance, the “lichwort” kept up the intensity, proving to be omnipresent in both winning back possession and making forward runs.
