A new adventure awaits Lucien Favre
On Saturday evening in Lyon, Lucien Favre managed the OGC Nice first team for the final time. In conjunction with the agreements made with the Swiss coach, the club has accepted the approaches made for him.
“During two seasons with us, Lucien has contributed to the growth of OGC Nice, with the bonus of the excellent season we had last year”, recognised President Rivère. “We thank him for the quality that he has brought to his work as the head coach and for his constant investment. He is a professional and a man of the highest quality. We wish him the success that he deserves in the new challenge which awaits him.”
The whole of OGC Nice associate themselves with the best wishes of the President and thank Lucien Favre for his work at the club and the human qualities he has brought to his work on a daily basis.
Arriving in summer 2016, the Swiss coach lead OGC Nice to its best league finish in 41 years. Third after his first season, and having lead the league at the winter break whilst playing one of the most attractive styles in France, the Gym equally ended 2017-18 in the top half of the table (8th), whilst at the same time featuring in Europe (qualifying round then group stage) at the end of the longest season in the club’s history (53 games played).
Anticipated by the board, his departure will lead to the arrival in due course of a new coach whose profile will be in line with the strategy of OGC Nice, driven forward by its President, Jean-Pierre Rivère and Managing Director, Julien Fournier.
