Mika Seri before Lyon
The final scorer of the season at the Allianz Riviera, where the Gym scored 40 goals this season*, Jean-Michaël Seri looked back at the win over Caen (4-1). The Ivorian international then turned his focus to the Aiglons’ final challenge, which will decide their European future away at OL next Saturday (at 9pm).
Mika, against Caen, you pulled it out of the bag in front of your fans.
It was good to offer this victory to the fans for this final game at home. And it’s above all a vital win for what follows. With the pressure in the table, I felt that the side and players were incredibly motivated. We have found our rhythm and were able to score quite quickly, which unblocked things after that. My goal? When they got the red card, that galvanised me even further. I wanted to score, because goal difference will be very important in the end.
“A great battle, from which the best team will win”
Thanks to this win, you are still in the running for Europe (6th). How are you feeling ahead of this final trip to Lyon?
It will be a really tight game, that’s for sure. It will be a final, for us and for them. Our objectives aren’t the same, but they will need a win to move forward in their race. For us too. We would like to put in a good performance. It will be a great battle, from which the best team will win.
“A totally different context”
Last year, you also ended your season in Lyon. What do you remember from that game?
It was a crazy match. The two teams played openly, even though Lyon wanted to close up the gap (the Gym finished in 3rd with 78 points, OL in 4th with 67 points, Editor’s note). The match was so open, with lots of goals (3-3). This season, it will be a totally different context, with different objectives. Lots of things will change.
