Kasper Dolberg joins OGC Nice

After passing his medical on Wednesday and supporting his future teammates from the stands during the derby, Danish striker Kasper Dolberg completed his transfer to OGC Nice on Thursday morning.

The people of Nice already know him. So too, the football world. In search of an offensive reinforcement, Le Gym set its sights on the Denmark international who, at 21 years of age, embodies both the future and the present.

Kasper Dolberg arrived in Nice the day after the INEOS group concluded its takeover of the club, and was its first new signing. The Dane visited Le Gym's facilities in the evening, where he was welcomed by Julien Fournier and Patrick Vieira, before completing his medical on Wednesday, followed by the derby at Allianz Riviera and officially signing his contract on Thursday.

A modern forward

With an athletic build (1.87m, 85kg), good back to goal, in the box, excellent technique: Dolberg has all the assets of the modern striker and already boasts plenty of experience at the highest level.

A forward with enormous potential, he played 39 games last season, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists. Over three seasons with Ajax, he made 119 appearances in all competitions (45 goals, 16 assists).

Career

Launched as a pro in 2015, at the age of 18, with hometown club Silkeborg, Dolberg was quickly recruited by Ajax. He started in the Eredivisie in 2016 and became one of the stars of the Amsterdam club. A finalist in the Europa League in 2017, a semi-finalist in the Champions League in 2019, the ‘Iceberg’ took part in the Q3 Champions League tie won by Les Aiglons over Ajax in the summer of 2017 (1-1; 2-2).

He was selected to represent his country in the 2018 World Cup and came off the bench against France. Last season, he was crowned Dutch league champion and won the Cup with Ajax.
