OGC Nice and Lille shared the spoils at the Allianz Riviera in the opening match of the L1 season (1-1). Ahead on the scoreboard from the 18th minute, Le Gym, who were brave from start to finish, were pegged back in the dying moments of the match. Frustrating!

OGC Nice started the 2023-2024 Ligue 1 campaign with a draw against Lille (1-1) in front of 29,436 spectators, a record attendance for an opening match at the Allianz Rivera. 

Gaëtan Laborde scored Nice's first goal of the season after a clinical Red and Black counter-attack (1-0, 18'), initiated by Thuram's recovery from Cabella's feet and set on its way by a magnificent pass from Moffi.

OGC Nice almost doubled their lead just minutes later, but Thuram's goal was ruled out for offside. Marcin Bulka was unbeatable in the first half, making several impressive stops. The home side deserved a penalty in the 44th minute, when Chevalier knocked Sanson off-balance in the box, without touching the ball.

In the second half, Le Gym defended their advantage valiantly, and were very well organised, but they were pegged back in injury time when Diakité headed past Bulka from a Gomes free-kick (1-1, 90+4').

Les Aiglons will travel to Lorient next Sunday (M2, kick-off 3pm).
