Match report
Le Gym defeated in Strasbourg (2-0)
OGC Nice lost 2-0 at Strasbourg on the Matchday 35 of L1.
In a sold-out Stade de la Meinau, the Gym conceded a goal after 40 seconds when Diallo, found in behind by Sissoko, made a run between Dante and Todibo and then struck between Schmeichel's legs (1-0).
Didier Digard's players were under pressure for the first quarter of an hour, but then recovered, thanks to a good showing from Bouanani. The 18-year-old, who played on the right wing in a 4-3-3 formation that saw only one change from last week's line-up (Rosario in place of Ramsey), was responsible for two of the best chances for the visitors in the first half. It was he who, after a nice bit of skill in the middle of the pitch, sent Moffi through, before the Super Eagle's right-footed shot was turned away by Sels (26'). Before the break, he played in another ball, which was flicked on by Moffi, but the ball went just wide.
Playing in a 3-4-3 formation, Racing were playing a very direct game, and were finding success. Led by a very good Habib Diallo in attack, they imposed a physical threat to the Aiglons, winning many second balls and creating chances. On the hour mark, Bellegarde took advantage of a foul to win a penalty, which was converted by Diallo (2-0, 60'), scoring his 20th league goal of the season in the process.
Didier Digard made his 5 changes during the match. Belahyane replaced Thuram (injured thigh) at the end of the first half. Then Brahimi returned on the left, Diop made his return after two months out, Atal replaced Lotomba and Barkley replaced Boudaoui.
The Gym pushed forward at the end of the match but could not get on the scoresheet, despite a run by Atal (77') which ended with a shot wide and a header by Dante saved by Sels (81').
Nice will host Toulouse next Sunday on Matchday 36 of L1 (kick-off at 3pm CET).
