OGC Nice ended 2020 with a draw against Lorient this Wednesday (Matchday 17, 2-2).

A tough night for the Aiglons. Having taken the lead with their only two shots of the game they were pegged back by a tenacious Lorient side who equalised after numerous attempts.

Walter Benitez was incredible between the sticks and made save after save throughout the game although he couldn’t stop the Merlus from coming back and getting a point.

The Gym set up in a 3-4-3 formation with Rony Lopes leading the line and their first goal came after a one two between Lotomba and Reine-Adelaïde who backheeled the ball into the right back who hammered the ball into the back of the net to open the scoring (1-0, 18’). After assisting the first goal, JRA scored the second with a beautiful outside of the foot finish after being played in by Boudaoui after a move orchestrated by Schneiderlin (2-0, 34’).

After allowing the visitors to have the lion's share of the ball, the Rouge et Noir found themselves more and more exposed. And the inevitable happened. After Thuram lost the ball Moffi reduced the deficit straight after kick off (2-1, 50’) before Grbic scored the penalty that he had won himself after a foul from Bambu, sent off for the offence (2-2, 82’).

The Gym end the year with a draw and in 12th place (with a game in hand). They will be back in league action on January 6 against Brest.
