OGC Nice rewarded for the Calèna Tour

Nominated for the third year in a row for the Sport & Management Awards, that celebrate the most inspiring projects and people working with sport in society, OGC Nice won the ‘Professional Sport’ category, for its Calèna Tour. It’s an award that rewards the entire club and its supporters.

A delivery van navigating the entire region, with thousands of toys, tons of love and one word to sum it all up: solidarity. A year ago, OGC Nice launched the Calèna Tour, a major travelling toy drive to ensure that those in need on the Côte d'Azur received gifts and comfort during the festive season.

One year on, this humanitarian journey was honoured in the magnificent setting of the National Assembly, where President, Jean-Pierre Rivère, and Communications & Brand Director, Virginie Rossetti, received the club’s award on Wednesday 9 October.

President Rivère received the award on behalf of the club from LFP President Vincent Labrune and French Blind Football national team coach Toussaint Akpweh.

Jean Pierre Rivère said: "This trophy is very important to us because it highlights the most virtuous aspects of football. The Calèna Tour is the perfect embodiment of our vision: to mobilise our entire ecosystem, from the professional players to the fans, including the coaching staff, club employees, partners and local amateur clubs, to have a positive impact on the Côte d'Azur community. It demonstrates the role that a family like OGC Nice can play at such an important time as the end-of-year festivities. We're delighted to be setting an example and encouraging other clubs to become even more involved in community initiatives. This recognition motivates us to do even more, because it is our role as a professional football club to be useful and have a positive impact on a daily basis."

OGC Nice and its Endowment Fund would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those involved in this magnificent show of solidarity. We look forward to seeing them again in December, when the Calèna Tour will be back on road!
