OGC Nice’s second pre-season friendly ended in a 2-2 draw with CD Leganés at the club’s Training Centre on Friday.

Against the newly promoted La Liga side, Franck Haise’s team started in a 3-4-3 formation with Mendy - Todibo - Dante at the back, Louchet and Bard were wing-backs. Rosario and Sanson were in midfield behind Boga - Moffi - Laborde.

BOGA UNPLAYABLE

After weathering an early storm, the Aiglons gradually took control of the game. Following a good stop from Dupé (2’), Soriano then halted Boga’s fine right-foot shot (6’).

With the opposing defence struggling to keep tabs on him, the Nice number 7 then opened the scoring on 19 minutes. Played in by Bard, the Côte d’Ivoire international produced a superb left-foot finish (1-0). 

A devastating turn of pace from Boga might have brought him a brace, but Soriano saved (21’). After a neat one-two between Sanson and Boga, the former crossed for Moffi to finish, but the Nigerian was offside.

Seven minutes before the break, Mr Millot awarded the Spanish second division champions a penalty and Diego García Campos (1-1) beat Dupé from the spot, even though the OGC Nice goalkeeper went the right way.

Moffi thought he had scored just before the break, but was once again flagged offside (43’).

DEBUT FOR NDOMBELE

The game turned after the break with the Spanish side more incisive, and they took the lead when Miguel burst past Rosario and teed up Lopez to net his team’s sceond goal. But the Aiglons bounced back and Laborde twice went close to levelling.

In the final half-hour, Franck Haise threw on Brahimi, Bouanani and Ndombele, who was making his first appearance in a Nice shirt (the team were wearing the new away kit).

BRAHIMI levels

After a great chance for Boudaoui, after he had been set up by Bouanani (75’), it was another Algerian who got the qualiser: Billal Brahimi latching onto Mohamed-Ali Cho’s pass (81’) to fire across the goalkeeper and into the far corner.

This second friendly match of pre-season – which ended 2-2 like the previous one against Lausanne – brought to an end the third week of preparations. Now, the Red-and-Blacks head to Austria on Monday for a training camp.
