Nice Top 6 finish for 6th time in 12 years
1-0 winners over Le Havre on Friday in Ligue 1, Les Rouge et Noir have cemented a top 6 finish at season’s end, and still have plenty to play for in their final two games of the campaign.
Le Gym has qualified for Europe! Courtesy of Friday’s victory, Nice are assured a finishing in the Top 6, synonymous with qualification for either the UEFA Champions League, Europa League or Conference League, for the sixth time in the last 12 seasons, ever since finishing fourth at the end of the 2012-13 season.
Nice will sit fifth at the end of the Matchday 33 and can no longer be caught by Rennes, Marseille or Lyon. They have a five point advantage over sixth-placed Lens, and both teams have two games left to play. In other words, anything other than a win for Les Sang & Or face against Stade Rennais this Sunday and Le Gym will be sure of finishing in the top 5.

But Dante and Co. can still dream of finishing higher. With 54 points, Les Niçois are just a point adrift of LOSC, fourth on 55. Lille travel to Nantes on Sunday before ending the season against none other than Nice, on Sunday 19 May (KO 21:00).
The other big news from the night: OGC Nice can even still finish in the top 3. While Nice were beating Le Havre, Stade Brestois (3rd with 58 points) was held 1-1 away to Reims. Eric Roy’s side are only four points ahead of Les Aiglons. To do that, Le Gym need to win their two final games of the season, against Paris and Lille and hope that the Brittany outfit fail to win away to Toulouse on the final day of the campaign.
