Farioli: "We've taken a step forward"
Here is Francesco Farioli’s take on the 1-1 draw with Villarreal.
What is your analysis of the match?
I think it was a good match, with a lot of intensity. I particularly liked the attitude of the players on the pitch, their ability to 'maintain their distances', their mentality and their aggression. I think it's an important step forward in our journey. Tomorrow we have another tough match. We need to assess everything and all the players so that we can choose the starting 11 who will face Lille.
Do you feel that the players increasingly understand your ideas and the style of play you want to impose?
The trajectory is positive. As I said a few days ago, as we grow there are naturally ups and downs. Today, in many moments, we were accurate in what we had to do and we did it at the right time. However, we clearly still have some way to go to become more consistent, to be more incisive, to understand each other even more, to be even more connected and to be even more dangerous.
A word on Youssouf?
We need to check things with the doctors and the medical staff. He felt something, which we'll assess between now and tomorrow.
Now it's time for Sunday's game, the last test before the L1 gets back underway...
We're going back to the hotel now to prepare for the game against Fiorentina, which will be another tough test against a strong team that reached a European final a few weeks ago. We need to be ready. It will be a great test for the boys who will be playing. After that, I'll have an good indication and a clear framework to try and make the best choices before Lille.
