Nice's little ones in Serie A mode!
The U9, U10 and U11 from our football school were invited to Turin for an elite meeting with Italian professional clubs on Sunday 26 March.
"After numerous exchanges at French tournaments with Juventus and a visit from the Italians last November to our facilities, we were asked to take part in this gathering as the only French representatives," explained Axel Mazerbourg, technical director of the OGC Nice football school.
Deniz Ondeyer and Stewy Idomenee's U11s put in a great performance by finishing third in the tournament with a single defeat against Juventus of Turin with a score of 2-1. In the U10 category, the Aiglons of Victor Bonifassi and Gregory Papa, like their elders, finished in third place, behind Monza and Juve. Finally, Eddy Oueslati and Patrick Quintero's U9s had an almost perfect campaign but came in second after missing out on top spot in the penalty shoot-out against Monza,
"This day in Italy against teams with different styles, who have a lot of tactical rigour and are very strong in the transition, allowed our three squads to adapt collectively and individually to respond to the opponent's game," continued Mazerbourg. "We are very satisfied and proud of our boys for their performance and it is a pleasure that clubs like Juve, Parma, Genoa or Hellas Verona congratulated us on our play."
It should be noted that the trophy for best player of the U11 tournament was awarded to an Aiglon: Antoine Mandza-Gervais. This earned him a nice ovation from his teammates!
Next week, our young players from the football school will be back in Provence with U8 to U11 confrontations against FC Burel.
