Boulhendi extends his contract until 2025
A true product of the red and black youth academy, Teddy Boulhendi is continuing his adventure with Le Gym, where he has gone through all the steps from youth football to the top flight. Born in Martigues, the goalkeeper has been with the Gym since 2015, when the red and black coaches spotted him in Gignac. The 21-year-old goalkeeper came through the Aix-en-Provence youth academy just like Antoine Mendy and Ayoub Amraoui, arrived in Nice in 2016 and has been playing for the Aiglons' first team since the summer of 2019.
"Teddy is a goalkeeper who has both great qualities and great room for improvement," explains Florent Ghisolfi, the Aiglons' sporting director. He is young and has great potential. He works hard every day and his extension is the result of this hard work. He knows exactly where we want to go together. We are counting on him, both for the present and the future. His role in the dressing room is also essential," continues Fabrice Bocquet, general director. He is essential because he brings people together, because beyond his qualities as a player, he has great human qualities. He provides the link between all the generations. Being from the youth academy, he is an example for our young players. He also knows the club inside out and conveys our values in a natural and refreshing way. It's a pleasure for us to continue our journey together.
While he has not yet appeared in an official match with the Aiglons' senior team, he has already worn the captain's armband during pre-season matches, Teddy Boulhendi is an Algerian youth international and even took part in a training camp with the Fennecs' senior team in the summer of 2021. "The Gym management has shown confidence in me, I am very happy and very proud," said the goalkeeper. Being number 3 in the hierarchy is not an easy status, but the trust of the club pushes me to stay here. The club is ambitious and so am I, I identify 100% with the project. We are a team of friends, even outside of football. That's important. I try to connect people as much as possible. The goalkeepers are like brothers. I get on very well with Nico (Dehon, goalkeeping coach), Kasper (Schmeichel) and Marcin (Bulka). I think we complement each other in our work. On the pitch, there is competition, but we try to pull each other up as much as possible. I think I'm as good for them as they are for me. I hope that my first official pro appearance will come in Nice and that I will reach the 10-year mark here. It's a beautiful love story that I hope will continue for a long time."
