Aiglon of the month
Schmeichel strikes again
After his excellent month of November earned him his first award, Kasper Schmeichel has been named Aiglon of the Month for February with 22% of the vote, coming in ahead of Jean-Clair Todibo (18%) and Jordan Lotomba (16%).
Kasper Schmeichel dominated the vote in November (44%) to be named your player of the month; this time it was much closer, but the Denmark international came out on top in the face of stiff competition from a field of no fewer than 13 players.
He certainly had an exceptional month, conceding just a single goal in Le Gym's five matches in February (in Marseille, 1-3), and so racking up an impressive four clean sheets to add to the pair he tallied in the closing two games of January. It means Le Gym head into March with the second-best defensive record in the division (21 goals conceded).
Though largely under-employed against Lens (0-1) and Monaco (0-3), Schmeichel kept his side in it against Marseille, notably making a fabulous save from Cengiz Ünder. But the 36-year-old's best performance came in the goalless draw at home to Reims where, after stopping Folarin Balogun's penalty, his team left with a point and he claimed the Aiglon of the Match prize.
J-C Todibo came in second with 18% - January's winner has three monthly victories in total this season, the most of any player in the squad. The 23-year-old was again superb, notably coming second in the Aiglon of the Match vote after Marseile.
Jordan Lotomba took a monthly podium place for the first time with 16%. The Switzerland international, who played every minute possible in February, came third and second respectively in the votes after the Marseille and Reims games, and the 24-year-old's consistently high level of performance has caught your eye.
