For Bundesliga followers, they are also a reference in German football, supported by a large popular fervour, like Partizan.
The club, which finished seventh in the most recent championship, is coached by Steffen Baugmart.
Cologne will play at the 51,000-capacity RheinEnergieStadio.
To reach the group stage, Cologne beat Mol Vidi in a play-off (1-2, 3-0).
