Claude-Maurice, 147 days later
Alexis Claude-Maurice made his return to the pitch in the first match of pre-season (1-1 against Cercle Bruges on Saturday), 147 days after his last appearance.
On 12 February, three days after a big performance in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France against Marseille (4-1), OGC Nice lost to Olympique Lyonnais in the league (2-0). Alexis Claude-Maurice came on as a substitute with 15 minutes remaining to play what would turn out to be his last minutes of the 2021-22 season. The midfielder, who made 11 appearances under Christophe Galtier, was forced to undergo surgery on his ankle a few days later due to pain caused by the screws and plates used to stabilise the fracture he had suffered (in the fibula in May 2021).
After a lot of work with the medical staff and physical trainers, the number 10 returned to the squad at the start of the 2022-23 season, his fourth in the colours of OGC Nice. Introduced at half-time by Lucien Favre, ACM had 45 minutes to show his qualities against the Jupiler League club: "He’s good. That's what you need to have. He did well. I like it when he gets on the ball," commented the coach after the match.
