After Nice - Troyes
Andy Delort: "Mentally, you can count on us"
During Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Troyes, Andy Delort did a lot of running, always giving his teammates options. On the score sheet in the previous three home matches (4 goals), the attacker may not have found the back of the net at Allianz Riviera this Sunday, but over 90 minutes, he led the Nice attack with one unwavering principle: don’t stop trying until the final whistle.
It’s become a familiar theme for the OGC Nice faithful this season. Yesterday, Les Rouge et Noir defeated ESTAC 1-0 courtesy of a 94th-minute goal from Khephren Thuram in the role of hero that Andy Delort knows only too well at Allianz Riviera.
« Khephren is a youngster who is improving every day, who listens. I’m really proud of him. »
Andy Delort, speaking in the mixed zone
“It was a great goal for us. I’m happy for Khephren, he is a youngster who’s improving every day, who listens. I’m really proud of him. Goals like that; when you win after a real struggle, they really show the team’s spirit. We are very happy. As a team, we don’t give up,” explained the Nice No.7 to journalists in the mixed zone.
Well aware that his side lacked “clinical finishing, the final ball, me first and foremost, two or three times,” the Rouge et Noir forward highlighted his side’s habit of scoring after the break. “I heard about that stat. It shows that mentally, you can count on us. But there’s still room for improvement and we know what we have to work on,” admitted Delort, before heralding the impact of the substitutes: “It’s normal to want to prove yourself, to fight. That’s the least to be expected. At least, that’s how I see it. It’s good for Evann (Guessand) because he has that same approach and he made the difference. Billal (Brahimi) was also excellent on the wing, making things happen. I’m very happy. The entire squad has to keep fighting, giving it everything, to go as far as we can right to the last game of the season.”
Aiglon OF THE match
For the third home game in a row, Andy Delort was named your Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Match. He was crowned ahead of Khephren Thuram and Walter Benitez.
