Biography
Having accumulated a huge amount of experience during a 12-year spell in England, Morgan Schneiderlin chose OGC Nice as his first port of call back in France. A Strasbourg youth academy prospect, he became the youngest player to sign a pro deal with the Alsace outfit aged just 16 in 2006. He made his first-team debut the same year before joining Southampton two seasons later.
A key part of the Saints' set-up for seven years (257 matches, 15 goals), he was a cornerstone of their return to the Premier League in 2011/12 (42 matches, 2 goals) before a switch to Manchester United in July 2015.
He won the FA Cup and Community Shield with the Red Devils, and was called up by France coach Didier Deschamps for both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO 2016. Following a three-year spell at Everton where he played under Ronald Koeman, Marcos Silva and Carlo Ancelotti.
The midfielder came back to France and joined OGC Nice on 23 June 2020. During his first season, the Strasbourg native played 35 matches for Les Rouge et Noir, including 5 Europa League games. His ability to put in real effort match after match and his experience saw him feature as an important element of Adrian Ursea’s squad, especially after Dante’s injury.
During the 2021-22 season, Morgan Schneiderlin appeared on 24 occasions across all competitions. He brings his experience to Christophe Galtier’s squad, and picked up an assist for Amine Gouiri during the victory over Clermont at the end of November (2-1).
OGC Nice and Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club reached an agreement for the loan transfer of 33-year-old Morgan Schneiderlin on 28 January 2023.
He went on loan to Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club (Australia) in January 2023. Schneiderlin played in 12 matches and scored two goals, helping his team qualify for the playoffs, where he and his team-mates lost in the first round.
